| Member | New Ruger I picked up a new Ruger 22/45 yesterday. Haven't had a chance to fire it yet but I decided to try and disassemble it and reassemble a few times since I've heard of the difficulties. The guy at the store said if you do it a few times and read the instructions it isn't that bad. Well I did it once and disassembly wasn't so bad, only needed a hammer and dowel once. Reassembly was a nightmare. I couldn't get the barrel/receiver assembly to line up with the grip, even with a hammer. Anyone have any tips I can try in the future?? |

| Senior Member | To get the barrel/receiver onto the grip/frame, I have to use a rubber mallet. One sharp tap and it's back on (I usually fold up a towell, hold the pistol with the barrel down on the towell and give the grip a moderate tap). You might consider taking it to the shop where you bought it. Have them walk you through reassembly a couple of times. Then do it a few times once you get home. You'll never have a problem after that. Also, it will loosen up the fit a bit, making it easier to do later on. |

| Member | Thanks for the input. I misposted before about the hammer, I used a rubber mallet. As far as reading the manual I did, I even watched the videos on ruger.com. Like I posted earlier, when I put the barrel on the frame I tapped it with the mallet but the barrel would only stay flush with the back of the frame. Than the hole for the bolt stop was off by 1/16"-1/8" which made getting the pin back in. How hard should I hit the frame with the mallet, maybe I was just too scared I would break something. Well I think I will do it again today. Hopefully it will be a little easier. The worst part is I probably won't get to shoot it until sometime next week. Again thanks for the help. |

| Senior Member | Ruger majicjeepd: Sir; go to Rugers site and watch the How to MK 11-111 they are the same configuration. Ruger "News and Resources"" On Line Video. Don't give up. You have a fire firearm that takes a little time to learn assembly and disassembly. Once you get it down, good to go
