| Would hornady's 22 WMR ammo cycle?
Hey guys, just wondering but if I decided to get a Henry .22 magnum, would the Hornady V-Max ammo cycle in it? Becuase its pointed, I though only roundnose bullets would cycle. Heres the ammo: Cabela's -- Hornady .22 Magnum Ammunition

I bet it would, most leverguns don't use pointed ammo because pointed ammo against the primer=bad. But that is rimfire i would imagine it is fine. Good luck with it though that ammo didn't group real well out of my ruger 77/22 mag

You'd be just fine to run that through a lever action rifle. As Sell33 stated, the issue with pointed ammunition in a lever action rifle was that the bullet tips would/could strike the primer of the round in front of it. .22 cal being rimfire that would not be a concern for you. That particular ammo that you linked to appears to be made similarly if not exactly the same as the new Hornady LEVERevolution ammo that recently became available for lever action rifles. Basically the tip of the bullet has a pointed insert of flexible elastomer making pointed ammunition suitable for center fire lever action rifles that utilize the tubular magazines. https://www.hornady.com/shop/?ps_ses...b6f2d1f845cb05 |
