winchester ammo

i bought the bulk pack of winchester .22LR last weekend and fired off about 200 of them. what inconsistant ammo. i didn't keep a tally but probably 1 in every 5 rounds shot like it was a cci cb short. no powder. just primer. then the rest varied. some performed at supersonic speeds as they're supposed to and the same amount of others definately was missing that crack and leaving the barrel sub-sonic. i will never buy winchester rimfire ammo again. even for cheap bulk stuff it wasn't worth it. i'll stick to my bulk federals. they're always consistant. anyone else have problem with winchester bulk loads?

My biggest issue with bulk winchester .22lr ammo is that it's so dirty. It often jams in my Browning, and it's the only ammo that will jam.

On the plus side, it seems to be some of the most accurate bulk ammo...kind of ironic.

Anyway, I use Federal, because it's the most reliable bulk ammo for my buckmark, and is fairly accurate.

I have had the same problem with the bulk winchester 22lr. The powder is so inconsistant that I dont even shoot them because it isnt anyfun when your rounds hit all over the target. I like nice tight groupings and if you cant get that out of a 22 because of the ammo then it just sucks.

That's why I prefer CCI Mini Mag.

cci seems to be the only consistant and quality 22lr ammo around, win, rem, fed, all bad in my experience but for $20 for a box of 525 you get what you pay for. only problem cci gets a little expensive as plinking ammo but i use it for hunting. i like the stingers and velociters. i've heard the maxi-mags are good too

Did you save the box or boxes?

I am curious as to whether it provided any info as to where it came from or who actually manufactured it?

Sadly, when I was young Winchester had a reputation for quality from top to bottom.

To my knowledge I have never bought Winchester bulk ammo. I have always bought it in a regular brick. Is this the same thing or is it packaged differently? This is an odd question I know. It has been 15 years since I bought any Winchester 22lr ammo. I just buy it by the box now and it is usually CCI. Do they even make wildcats anymore?

they still make wildcats. i threw away the box no no info but it was a 500 round box of hollow points, supposed to be high velocity, and all scattered in the big box like the federals

I fired some wildcats thru my 10/22 and they were all over the place. I was using a Ramline 2 50 round clip that kept jamming, so it could have been the clip deforming the lead. I gonna try the factory clip and different ammo next. I never considered the ruger a very accurate rifle and am seriously considering looking for a bolt action. Any recommendations on a good accurate bolt?

I think we're talking about different ammo.

This is the ammo I'm talking about:
It's the only .22 ammo so far that has caused problems with my Buckmark.
