If they have a G20 and you can afford to shoot it or have a progressive press, its the only way to be in my book. The ammo is superior, and the reliability of Glocks leaves nothing to be said. Some don't like them for various reasons, but they are in fact the Timex of guns. You can abuse them, you can do anything, but you can't expect them to fail you.

First, let me qualify my remarks by saying that with the exception of an original Colt SA 45 LC and an untouched WWII vintage M1 Grand, all of my firearms have been modified. This ranges from a Ruger government match through a MAK 90 and even includes my Mark V Weatherby Accumark elk rifle. I have yet to find a firearm that out of the box meets my expectations by any manufacturer!

Needless to say I own Glocks, 7 actually and as with my Colt Autos, HK’s, Walther’s, Browning’s, Smith’s , Ruger’, etc., the minimum I do after a 500 round break-in is a trigger job, trash can the springs and more often than not, and if practical (read available) the barrels!

My Glocks all have rocket disconnects Jarvis or Bar-Sto barrels, NY olive’s and Wolf Springs. Without exception. That is not an admission that the Glocks are weak, inaccurate or a bad design. My Glock 30 was the most accurate “out-of-the-box” firearm I ever owned and during the break-in, I never experienced a malfunction. But to me it is the same as all of my 1911’s, be it a Colt, Springfield, whatever, the barrels are replaced with Bar-Sto or Kart.

I have read about the KB’s in Glocks and about KB’s in other manufacturers pistols. It may happen with ANY handgun. I have seen L frame Smiths and Ruger Blackhawks blow the top strap completely off the gun.

So what does it all mean? Nothing, you pays your money and you takes your chances.

A friend's long-slide Glock in .40SW caliber is the only service pistol I have been able to shoot five-round groups under an inch at 15 yards with. That's the one I want! However, his .45 ACP compact Glock is also a great shooter, and would be my choice for CCW.
They shoot so well for me, it's making it very hard for me to maintain my hatred of the 'plastic fantastic'.

I had a trigger mod done on my Glock 30 bringing the pull down to 2.5 lbs. I'm impressed with it. I recently handled a Springfield 9mm at the local shop and it had a better trigger than the Glock before the trigger job. I'm not impressed with the trigger on the Kahr Arms K9 I bought my YL and would like to modify that. Most of the time it's the Colt Combat Commander .45 that ends up going out with me. My next piece will be a Caspian Stainless Steel Commander .38 Super.

9mm, W H Y??? I prefer a 10mm (like in 1006 S&W, 10mm Delta Elite, or S&W 610 revolver). If I want to use something big, I go to the .500 S&W. The .38 Super is ok. 9mm, W H Y ???

.22 Cal rimfire is cheaper, and more fun. It is also more of a challenge, with a lot more options. Try to keep 60 shots in the "X" and 10 rings at 15 or 25 yards with anything else (that is a score of 600/600 in PPC competition).

I most certainly would. But then I have a room full of firearms I do not need.
Arguement aimed at which firearm is the best is a great deal just personal choice. I think I can safely say that Glock is a reputable manufacturer so therefore yes i would buy one should the desire hit me.

I'm sick to the stomach when I compare the price of 9mm compared to others... Really makes me mad, I saw a 50 round box of 9mm HP for $4.99

I really didn't like glock, I had to shoot 2 before I found one that fit my hand nice, and I enjoy having a hammer on my guns.... If you want something that you know will fire, go for a glock, but if you want something that you know will fire, and you know where the bullet will go, You can't go wrong with a good companies 1911 =]

Glocks price is actually good in my opinion, and I love them for making a 10mm, More companies need to adapt the 10mm, All I know currently are a few smaller custom companies, Colt Delta Elite, EAA, Springfield (omega was it?), Kimber, Dan Wesson/CZ, Smith & Wesson and Glock..... and again, just my opinion, the 10mm is the best, and ammo isn't that badly priced, similar to .45 ACP =]

I got my glock 22 in 40 S&W as just something new to add to my collection. After my second trip to the range, I sold all of my other handguns except for my black powder. For just out right accuracy and balance nothing compares. I check out H&K, Steyr and Springfield XD, the H&K was compareable, the Steyr five seven was ok but did not really like the fit in the hand or the cost of the ammo, the Springfield I would not trust, it's cheaply made and of poor quality, in my opinion just Springfields attempt at a Cheap Glock knockoff! I have my CCW and the Glock is my weapon of choice. However this is just my personal opinion my advice is do some research, go to a gun store have them show you how to disassemble the piece inspect the construction, go to a range that rents them and fire off a few mags. Make an informed choice and get what feels right for you. And the .40 S&W is a superb round that overcomes the limitations of the 9MM without scarficing capicity for the added weight of the .45.

I just did!

haven't been around for awhile. been busy getting divorced and making sure I get the kids a fair amount of time.

After 12 years, my HK usp finally started breaking parts. 30,000 rounds, 3 barrels, many many mags.

parts are slow to come by, even for an HK armorer. I sold all my auto pistols and started buying revolvers. S&W performance center 686 plus (4") was first, followed by a 629 classic, also 4".

after a few months of practice, i've realized that I personally can't put as much lead accurately down range as quickly with a wheel gun. maybe I need a few months more practice.

Anyway, now that I at least have two totally reliable handguns, I wanted to get back into an autoloader. I couldn't afford a decent 1911, didn't like the trigger or the small size of the kahr (was accurate as !!!! though), and I saw an ad at turners for a g22 for 499.99. I went down to get it and after looking at 12 or so glocks, I chose a g23 with meprolight tritiums.

Hah, ... went to spend 500 and spent 700 instead.

Then, a couple of days later, I went to denver area for work and picked up two 13 rd g23 magazines and a 15 round g22 magazine at Sportman's Outpost in arvada. (Thank God for GPS).

I pick up my glock tomorrow. i'm pretty excited. I've hated them for years until the range master (owner) of La Puente firing range 0put me through point and shoot drills with the glock. I'll give it a chance and post a few impressions (compared to HK usp .40 and sigpro .40) in a couple of months after i've shot it a bit.

The divorce also forced me to sell a few weapons as well. From a high of 17 last year, I'm now down to two wheel guns, a g23, a weatherby vanguard sporter (two tone wood) and my AKM.

It's better to trust the opinion of 1 or 2 people you know that 500 you dont.

I have a Glock 23 for more than a year now and I had used all kind of ammo on it. Never has a Malfunction. I know at least a dozen of guys on my club firing glocks and never saw a malfunction.

I believe that every gun has his purpose. May be the glock is not the most accurate gun in the market but is the gun that you want with you in an emergency. That's why glock is the choice of almost every law enforcement department in USA.

I have had as many as 4 Glocks, 2 9mm's, a .40S&W and a .45ACP; I like everyone of them but I now own only 2, I kept my G17 and G19. The G17 is an early one from mid 1980s, the G19 is later but one of my favorites. I enjoy shooting the 9mm and with the proper bullet it is an outstanding round. In this month G&A Jeff Cooper tells of 27 bullets failing to stop a criminal...no it wasn't a 9mm!
From G&A Coopers Column- In a recent confrontation in Petaluma, California, the bad guy was hit 27 times with 10mm pistol bullets, whereupon he died. The 10 is a pretty satisfactory cop cartridge, but it is not the ultimate answer. Nothing is. I suppose that the .69-caliber, caplock front-feeder of the 1840s was about the best thing of its kind in stopping power, but men have been hit with heavier blows than that and still kept coming. The answer, of course, is placement. You have to put your bullet in the right place, and this, of course, calls for a cool hand.
