| Our M249's saw quite a bit of action in Iraq. They're reasonable light and I especially like the 200 rd ammo tub that attaches underneath. They aren't as forgiving as the old M60 about keeping them clean though. The M249 can accept M16 magazines in a pinch, but they don't feed very well. They M249 is pretty easy to control during sustained firing, but the barrel gets hot quick, fast, and in a hurry. I personally perfer "Ma Duece" .50 cal. or the MK-19. While in Iraq, Johnny Jihad would generally leave us alone if we had an escort of HUMMV's with .50's and MK-19's. |
