Just Got a Hakim!!!!

I just got back from getting a Hakim! I was picking up my S&W 29 finally and low and behold he had a beautiful Hakim sitting there. I couldn't pass it up. I never see them around here and there's no gun shows in Jersey.
Anyone with any info or experience I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

If anyone's interested I'll try to post a pic.

Thanks.
I was estatic. He had put it on the shelf not long before I arrived. It was meant to be. Serendipity. It was one of those rifles I assumed I'd never have cause I've never seen one around here.

Two things:

1. How much did it cost?

2. This thread is worthless without pictures.......

A Great Shooter

You will find your Hakim to be great shooter: very accurate, not much recoil (it's a bit heavy) and not hard to take apart. That surplus corrosive ammo can eat your gun in less than a day under damp conditions! So learn the latest recipes for reloading. All supplies are easy to get. Heilung

It's almost perfect. A few blemishes here and there but whoever had it before me kept it beautiful. I almost asked how to date this and then I remembered I don't read Arabic anyway.

Update: It's a 1965 I think. I found an arabic number decoder.

Yeah I have a bandolier of turkish surplus but I should wait and pick up some non-corrosive, huh.

The Hakim has to be one of the most fun guns to shoot on the planet!
I love mine and its very accurate with some homeloads. I never shoot surplus through it. Especially the Turkish stuff.
They can be VERY tricky setting the gas valve correctly. Too much gas or too hot of a load can rip the rim off the case. Start with the gas valve at its lowest setting and if it cycles, then leave it there. Too high will cause unnecessary wear and the bolt cycles so fast that the empty cases go into orbit, never to be seen again. You can also add an additional setting to the gas valve by some simple filing and slowing the action down even more.
But beware....they are loud which attracts onlookers and the worst part is that you will need LOTS of ammo!!!!! I try to reload mine but sometimes the empty cases I find are so badly dented and dinged up that they are scrap.
Congrats on the Hakim. You will really like it.

NRAJOE, saw two Rasheed's at the last show in Rapid City SD 6 months ago, not much call for them there...Saw the best hakiem I ever saw go for a year before it was sold. So they are probably still there. The show is in the "Civic Center"
