Glad I read this sticky--kinda makes me wonder what the heck is racist, since threads like "Why I hate..Fill In The Blank...seem acceptable fare. It's not easy being a radical whale-hugging anti-nuke redneck gun-toting peace activist with a short fuse...just waiting for Babylon to implode.

I imagine racism is better defined in concrete terms--a specific: being denied some service or access based upon race. Being treated unfairly based on race, I suppose is what it boils down to.

Just because they happen from time to time DOES NOT mean that they are acceptable. How to deal with them when they happen can be a tough judgement call, but they have NEVER been acceptable.
