Having fired a Ruger PC9, a Marlin Camp 45, and a Marlin 1894 in 44 Rem Mag, I have to say that the Ruger was the nicest, while the Marlin the most practical, well, depending. The Ruger would be a good choice for home defense but the Marlin would be better for hunting. I guess considering most of the uses for pistol caliber carbines, the Ruger's a better idea, though I really wish they came in 45.
