| Banned | Range report Well, I finally got to test out the South African .308 military surplus ammo. For starters I put a target out to 50 yards. First few rounds I was low and to the right, but once I got it sighted in that little red circle went "poof". So I stuck the target out to 100 yards and got a few sub 2" groups and one just a hair over an inch. At that point I was happy so I took turns at the 200 and 300 yard targets. At 200 yards I went 15/15 at a 12"x12" metal square. So the last 5 rounds I tried at 300 yards. I have never walked out to the 300 yard targets, but it looked like an overgrown rabbit. I would guess it was about 18" tall. Anyways, I went 4/5 there, the first being a miss. I over estimated the drop and hit above it. I had one bad round out of about 45 rounds. All in all I plan on buying a few more battle packs of this stuff. 140 rounds for around $28.00 is fine by me. |

| Senior Member | You were testing this ammo in a G3... or? Sounds like a pretty decent deal on that ammo. Have you ever used this Indian 7.62 NATO stuff from the 70's? It's marked O.F.V. I bought 200 rounds for just $20 at my last gunshow and haven't had a misfire yet out of about 70 rounds I've been through so far. I wasn't sure if this was corrosive or not but I cleaned out my FAL pretty good just to be safe. |
