My experience is that converted subguns (to semi-auto only) make poor carbines in general. Too heavy, poor sights, poor comfort and ergonomics.

For instance, a Thompson weighs in around 12 pounds, compared to the SKS at 8 pounds. Which would you rather hump in the bush . . . ?
