Scoping a M48

I was recently thinking of scoping my M48, and was taking in all the options; I quickly eliminated altering the rifle with tapping and drilling. So I’ve narrowed my search down to two Mounts either the B-Square http://secure.armorholdings.com/b-square/mauser.html which seems to be nice and easy with a quick rear sight removal. Or a Iron Elite Scope mount http://www.iron-elite.com/ This seems really great and from what I hear, they are reliable mounts and the elevation screw wont scratch your rifle. So I would like to hear what you guys think, Im also looking for a good reliable scope but that is affordable. Thanks ~ Zeek

The Iron Elite mount is interesting. A couple of observations though:
1) The scope will sit rather high, so you'll need a strap-on cheekpad for a proper cheek weld.
2) The scope can't have too large an eye piece. For instance, the Bushnells being sold now may interfere with the bolt handle.

Still, this could be a good way to extend the old Mauser's capability.

Just avoid the ATI "No Gunsmithing" Scope Mount, that FAC used to sell. That was a true POS. Don't ask how I know . . .

I think he was kidding and saying it in a humerous way that GOOD scopes would cost a little more.

I don't know much about Mike48s but I will tell you this. I think that you could find a good scope for that price. I'm a very confident shooter up to 550yds with irons and if you really want to shoot further, get a resonable scope and just spend some time with it. You'll get it down. No one else may be able to shoot it but hey, eF um. Excuse my language.
