I went to the gun show yesterday with the intent of bringing home a Yugo SKS. Found two that were pretty dinged up, surface rust on one, the other missing the bayo. Both were waaay over priced. So I decided to look around for some ammo etc. I was thinking about going home when I see a rack with a couple of lever guns and two Mausers. And a CETME. I’ve wanted one for a while now, so I give it the once over. Wood furniture has been refinished, metal was reblued. Has a G3 flash hider attached, new OD sling, one CETME mag and five G3 mags, no cleaning kit. Selector lever is a bit stiff, so I ask if the trigger group was installed correctly after the reblue job. I think I actually heard his jaw hit his kneecaps. But to his credit he recovered quite quickly. Price tag had $480. After a good bit of haggling on the price, I got him down to $375. So now, FIANALLY, I have my own Spanish Lady. The best part of the whole deal … It was a private sale!!! We have plans to take the whole fam to the shooting range next weekend. Pics and range report to follow. -UR

Yep, I heard they were loud. I was planning to shoot this one when the kids are at the playground about 300 yards away. -UR

No heavier than an AK, nor any more unwieldy. Just longer. Had my Spanish Lady to the range a couple weeks ago - on Easter Sunday. She did not let me down! Had the place to myself, so she could sing out loud! I paid $375 about four years ago. Nowadays, that's a real good price! No more being made - kits are all gone!

I don’t pick up brass at the range. The boy scouts come out about once a quarter and pick up the place in exchange for range time about twice a year. When I was doing some research on the net I found the rifle tips the scales at 9.56 lbs. empty. You’re correct Big Dog, not much more than the AK. -UR

'Quality' is a relative thing on any Century-produced gun. Mine has ugly welds and the stock looked like Private Pedro used it to pound his tent stakes. But it's functionally perfect! I prefer function over beauty. You pay more for a real HK - is it worth it? Kinda like whether a Mercedes is really any better than a Ford. Both do the job.

Does anybody have a referral for a gunsmith who can get my G3 up and running properly. The gun shoots but after 40 rounds the ops handle/rod is almost impossible to move! My guess is that the cast aluminum receiver and barrel group was not properly mated and the expansion caused by the heat is causing the bloody thing to bind up. As we all know a rifle that is unreliable is only good when used as a boat anchor.

Yo, good to see you over here, Doc! Guys, the Good Dr. here is one of the CETME gurus from Gunboard's CETME/FR8 forum.

I used my CETME for hunting last year and it brought down an 8 pointer at 150 yards, I was stalking this buck for a mile in the thick woods to get to him and weighed the same as my AR15. and let me tell you that 308 dropped him on the spot,

MY first choice was going to be a G3 or CETME and I couldn't find one so I got an AK, but every gun show I bring it just in case I find somebody who wants to trade a G3 or CETME for it.

my average groups no matter how fast a start flinging brass dont get to be more than 5 or so inches at 100 yrds....if its new expect a few jams until you break it in....expect a good 1-2 hours of cleaning it afterwards...this is by far the dirtiest gun in my collection
