Are Bows accurate?

I have always wanted to use a bow to just target shoot with. I do understand that take quite a bit of getting used to, but done properly can be one deadly accurate item.

Anyone around here use one and can comment on how a bow performances overall?

It is a skill like most hunting sports. Practice is the key. You can learn with sights and accepted form and stance but if you learn the draw and fire the instinctive way you will have much more fun. ( in my opinion)

I use to target shoot with a bow. The key word is use to. Practice, practice, practice. At close range a bow in the properly trained hands can be very accurate. I just didn't have the time required to reach the skill level I wanted to acheive.

Compound bows with sights are pretty easy to use accurately.
recurves and such are a little tougher.

At 20 yards, I'm more accurate with my bow than a pistol. It's hard on arrows when they are robbin hooded.

I've been considering getting a compound bow for a while. "The Punisher" really put it over the top. heheh. What's a good price/place to get one? I know practically nothing about them, like pull,etc...

Question

Is it true that compound bows are illegal for some game hunting? Seems that I heard this on a TV program once.
