| Super Moderator ![]() | I asked a similar question once, and here's what they answered: Clean dirty surfaces with brake parts cleaner, then oil with something not too thick. It's tended to work for me.

| Moderator ![]() | Takes me maybe a half hour to clean my Spanish Lady. Y'all must be using some mighty dirty ammo . . . I find the CETME easier to strip and clean than the SKS.

| Moderator ![]() | JD, the CETME is the original roller-locked delayed recoil-operated battle rifle. The German G3 is the copy, slightly improved. The FAL is a totally different critter - gas operated and heavier. All can be darned good rifles - or junk. Depends on what kinda night the Century assembler monkey had. My monkey had a good time . . . :ballons:

| Senior Member | I think the fluted chambers allows for the escape of burning powder. I find mine extremely dirty, also. I'm using surplus ammo so I'm not sure what to blame the dirtiness on. Cleaning the rifle is a small price to pay for a beast of that magnitude.
