| Registered User | i recently got my hands on an m48 that has seen better days. it needs a rear leaf sight installed-that band spring is a real bear-also it needs a sling and a buckle-or whatever the term is, for the rear sling holder. my real question is, what do ya'll recommend about refinishing the stock in a manner that won't butcher it but maybe restore it to a semblance of its original appearance. any suggestion? |

| Moderator ![]() | Mine looked like it had been roughed out and then assembled. I sanded it to a medium finish, then stained and oiled. Still rough enough to look properly 'surplus' but a whole lot better than it was. A mirror-fine finish just doesn't look right on a milsurp.
