| Senior Member | Mausers in my book are the best bolt action rifle around. good fing you got there, K98 for me personally, but I plan on switching rifles soon to either the V.Z.24, M48 or yours the m24/47

Trader Rating: (0) | yeah its got fairly sharp lands and grooves i havent fired it yet because the only ammo over the counter i have found is $20 a box!!! so i ordered some sportsmansguide surplus. oh yes minimal muzzle wear . i got kinda burned on my 91-30 by not looking closely at the muzzle. there was so much goop it was hard to see the gun! i will keep ya posted on how she shoots. |

| Senior Member | Watch Out for Corrosive Ammo There's tons of corrosive surplus ammo out there so be sure you know what you got. Its ok to shoot it but you gotta clean the gun THE SAME DAY. No kidding, with any humidity the corrosion starts when yer done shooting. |

| Senior Member | Good Luck Billy! Personally haven't had much luck with yugo being good shooters. Got a wornout VZ-24 that shoots as bad as my "new" Yugo M48. Go Figure?

| Senior Member | I'm fixing to buy one of those from Big 5 myself. For what it's worth, you can go to the Big 5 website and print off a coupon for 10 percent off any item. It won't save you much, especially on a 100 dollar rifle, but it's something.

Trader Rating: (0) | yes im quite familiar with cosmo and corrosive ammo!hot water is my friend. when i get a cosmo smothered gun i like to take out small parts and boil them in water then scoop off the cosmo as it rises, while thats going on i go to work on the rest of the rifle. when thats all done i give everything a eds red bath. as far as corrosive ammo goes i bring a big thermos of boiling water shooting with me and clean my guns immediately. So thanks for the warning anyway, better safe than sorry. By the way i found a box of corbon ammo .that gun shoots well, i like it a lot but i dont think that gun likes soft tip ammo because i had some feeding problems , the top round would feed fine but the next one in the staggered mag would jam and yes i always use the coupon. its only $10 off a $100 dollar gun but im poor! THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE TIPS! |

| Senior Member | I always use a cheap window cleaner and spray down the barrel while still warm then run a wet patch down the barrel (cleaner), dry patch then clean as normal and do it again the next day and have not had any problems so far. Yes the Mausers are great. I have a M24/47 aand a M48A. |
