General Czech BRNO 98/22 issue

Bought a Czech BRNO 98/22 in excellent condition today and going through the motions of disassemble but having a problem, the gun has set for a long number of years and the magazine floor plate is almost glued(stuck) to the bottom guard. Also the forward bottom locking screw will not move due to build up. I dont want to force these apart with the chance on notching the wood or scratching the wood. My question is would there be anything i could buy( an oil or something) or do to loosen these parts? Thanks

I suggest a small amount of mineral spirits or wd-40 which will loosen cosmoline and old grease. Let it soak for a while...Make sure to use the PROPER Gunsmith Screwdriver so as not to twist the notch in the screw.

Try a bit of 'Liquid Wrench' penetrating oil?
The screws are easily available if you bugger them.

I had the EXACT same experience with mine and YES, PENETRATING OIL is the answer. I found it after quite a painful injury involving a broken drill bit and my wrist.

Let it soak for a long time, and I mean days or weeks. Then the screw should come out easily.

For the floorplate, I realized I was trying to remove it the wrong way. I forget what way worked, but it doesn't just flip down when you press the button - I believe you have to slide it somehow first.
