| Finally got my concealed carry Mecklenburg County, NC - Took safety training in June for $100, had to make an appointment with sheriff office (3 week wait) to fill-out application, paid $90 fee and waited 90 days to get permit. And they say my right to possess and bear arms shall not be infringed! |

| I wanted the permit primarily to be able to keep a sidearm in my glove box when traveling or on me when riding my scooter. I plan to carry a 9mm HiPoint that I shoot well even though it is an inexpensive auto. I also have, but won't carry, a S&W Model 27 357 Mag. and a S&W Model 34 Kit gun .22 cal. |

| I just renewed my CCW. It costs $75 to renew here in NC. Your permit is valid only five years. It took almost 60 days for the renewal to come through. |

| It's worth having. Makes buying firearms here in Ga a bit quicker too since we are now allowed to use it in place of getting a background check which ALWAYS takes forever. My carry arms are my Cz83 and my Makarov, and in winter my TZ75. What are you gonna carry Chris? |

| Your dealers must be more technologically up to date than my dealers. My dealers all do it by telephone and it takes them anywhere from 5-15 minutes sometimes. With the firearms permit I fill out the paperwork for the sale, and that's it. |

| I have not had a gun transfer I processed (out of about 100) take more than 5 minutes using the telephone background check system. as for ccw? to get one here (south alabama) takes an easy to fill out form at the sherriffs office...a five minute check....toss em a $20 bill...smile at the camera...and walk out a few minutes later with your shiney new CCW (The call it a "pistol permit" here). after that they keep your photo on file and you can renew by mail. It should be this easy everywhere (and we have A LOT LESS violent crime....cause most people are packin)Bob

| In many states, even with a permit/CCP, there's a big difference in carrying a concealed pistol on your person as opposed to having a gun in the glove compartment of your vehicle. Read up on it, so you don't learn the hard way. |

| I'm going to be taking the class probally at the begining of the year. The one place I found is I think $175, though I'm not sure how much the actual permit is. |

| Super Moderator ![]() ![]() | In MO it is illegal to have a gun in your glove box unless you have a CCW. But...you can keep a gun in open sight on your seat.
