| Senior Member | Just got my first Makarov! I just got my first Mak today at the gunshow. It is a Bulgarian Mak with some holster wear on it ( I'm touching up the blueing tonight! ), but everything mechanical is in great shape! I haven't taken it shooting yet, but I have dry fired it in both SA and DA modes and I am very impressed with the trigger pull this thing has! Apparently it hasn't been shot since it was packed up and shipped here either, because it had more cosmoline in it than the M44 I also bought! The guy selling it origionally wanted $190 for it but I talked him down to $175 which I thought was more reasonable. It came with 1 clip, 2 sets of grips ( the red ones with a star, and the black plastic ones with the thumbrest ) and a nice carrying case. I have been wanting one of these for such a long time! I can see why they are so popular! |

| Member | That's a great price for a Bulgie! I suggest that before you take it for a shoot, completely strip it and get the cosmoline out. One area that some peopleneglect is the exytracor channel. Makarov.com - Makarov Basics Makarov.com - FAQL Makarov.com Tech - Detailed Disassembly and Reassembly IMHO, the thumbrest grip is not very useful. Try the red star. I use that on one of my carry pieces. |

| Senior Member | Oh I'm one step ahead of ya already teakwood. I've cleaned it head to toe, trigger group to firing pin, she's ready to go! Took me about 2 hours and even after washing my hands I still reek of cosmoline! LoL The design is very familiar to me as well since I also own a Cz83 and a Pa 63. I'm loving it already! I'm hoping all goes well at the range tomorrow, because I really want to use this as my main CCW piece. Thanks for the good links! |

Don't touch nuttin' up with home blue, etc. Leave the character the way it is....they deserve to be honored. I have the E. German version and it has the character wear marks....and even with it being of communist origin I wouldn't think about taking the soul from it.

| Senior Member | You have now exposed yourself to communist military cosmoline,.... You will Soon Change. You wont be able to help your self, you will begin haveing a weird tingle in your central nervous system. at first not all the time, but it will grow stronger. Eventually you will start to think differently about soviet military firearms.... you will develop a "need" that must be served.... you will HAVE to start getting MORE Soviet milsurps More, Mooore MORE Ask around, You will Change................(creepy scary music comes up)

| Senior Member | Oh, I think it already got a hold of me when I bought my first Russian Mosin... the thing was DRENCHED in cosmoline... it was obviously a trap disguised as a nice rifle...but I just couldn't help myself! Ever since then things have just been.... different.... I wake up early on weekends to be the first in line at gunshows, and I make weekly visits to my local pawnshops! There is no hope for me now... I'm already in too deep! |

| Senior Member | I already love this thing! I've taken it to the range 3 times since I got it and have run about 250 rounds of various ammo without a single FTF or jam! I can see where they get their reputation! It has earned it's spot on my hip as my new CCW of choice! It even likes the 95gr Hornady XTP Hollow points that my PA63 complains about. What a well designed little pistol this is. I think I might have to get about 2 or 3 more of these! |
