Question muzzleloader

I asked some of you to give me advice on firing a muzzleloader after being loaded for 3 years. I cleaned the weapon as suggested my knight technician and it seems to be fine.
Now my question for some of you is how long to you think the pyodrex powder can stay good, if keep in a cool dry area. I have some now not used in 3 years, but looks ok. Would you want to throw it away and start with new or not? Let me know your advice. Thomas

I have pyrodex that has been in a sealed ammo can for 3~4 years & it is fine.

Pyrodex should have a long shelf life. Try one load and if it works, go for it.

Unless it's been in a damp enviorment for a real long period of time, go ahead and use it. If all is clean and you load up and it won't ignite after a few primers have been struck, then I would toss it. I too have had some Pyrodex for a few years, and have begun using it again with no problems so far.

myarmor has the right idea. It won't hurt to try it, and you will probably find it to work fine. I was shooting pyrodex that was a few years old the other day, and it was fine. If it doesn't work, I would try some American Pioneer. Shot it for the first time the other day and was pretty impressed.
