They look good, how did they taste? What type of shot did you use and how close were you? Inquiring minds need to know.

| Senior Member ![]() | Just got them today. Saving for new years dinner. My sister in law is German and can make some killer homemade dumplings. I used my old reliable Remington Model 31 16ga pump with 1oz Remington 7 1/2 game loads. Dad and brother were using 12ga 7's 1 1/8 oz steel (they thought it was a steel area, only for dove. The squirrell was a long one probably 40 yards. The rabbits didn't typicaly get about 20 yards off. Oh, I remembered something funny. I took a poke at this rabbit. It was running around at my feet. My 16ga is full choke, may have not doen me any good with cylinder. I was in the middle of this very thick stuff, over my head. I happened to notice the danged thing was sitting 10 yards from me in between the chase. I looked to make sure I was clear. Had to ask my brother to back up a few paces. Pulled up and put a bead right on the critter's eyeball. CLICK! I was empty big time. By the time I felt around for another shell, the critter had run off again. I think my brother killed him later up the way. I was slightly embarrased.

i went out for squirrel yesterday and decided i was going to use a .338 win mag with 255 gr bullets it worked wonders on squirrels it would blow em clean in half, where i hunt the squirrels are so over populated they wreck everything from corn in the garden to bird feeders and they tend to get in the house once in a while too through the attic they're real pests so we have some fun with em we usually use #3 buckshot to get a bit more killing range then birdshot, i used #8s once and that wasn't good since mosta the shots i took were at 60+ yards. you know with a .338 that they aren't gonna just run away after you hit em.

holtong is a really nice range they have all the concrete benches at the 100-200 yard range those are pretty nice, my dad shoots benchrest which is a precision shooting sport where you group 5 shot on a piece of paper the smallest group i have seen was .047 it looked like a single bullet hole i have tried it a few times but i am young and i don't like waiting for the wind to flip around i just like blowing a 3/4 group and not look at the wind, holton holds 2 maybe 3 matches there a year for it , i mean i prefer trap snd skeet but maybe you would be interested in something like that, it is really expensive though. if you want more info BENCHREST CENTRAL should be plenty of forums there.

we have done the trap and skeet thing... got 3 presses, but the kids like the .22 sil thing and the big bore... i stopped up to holton last nov. when they were having their last bench match for the year... until the gas got way up there we would go to holton once a mth for the winter sil matches... i showed up with the boys their age at the time were 14 and 15 and they came in 5 th of all the guys that shot... they couldnt beleave how these kids could shoot... nice bunch of guys up there.. but i havent been to a range yet where the people wernt fun to be around... i run the jr. rifle program at the berrien county sportsmans club here . i also run a .22 sil shoot in the summer.....

i have never shot silhouette before i can imagine it would be fun, i am sure i'd like it my trap is my game right now i can break a 94-96% average almost everytime i am trying to get my average up but i seem to be stuck there, i have been shooting trap since i was 8-9 and am 18 now so i have a lot of practice in that sport and i guess its just what i am comfortable with.
