Nice! Guess I can add myself to the list of lucky Hakim owners. I picked one up a few weeks ago and spent a week just cleaning out the sand(!) and reblueing it. All I can say is that I've never fired anything like it before. I never thought I'd find anything more satisfying than the ka-CLING of a Garand ejecting a stripper clip, but the sound and feel of the bolt slamming forward when you chamber that first round is just so perfect. I remember seeing a Rashid at the same show, so I'm definitely going to go back and pick it up. Now that I have that out of my system, I have a few questions about the history: what year did they start manufacturing them and which conflicts were they used in?

I did read that, but I was curious about the exact year. Mine was built in '56 and had a four digit serial, so would '55 be about right?

Dont get your fingers near that bolt! I like the blast you get from the gas pushing the bolt back. And the noise...those things are LOUD. The Hakim is, by far, the easiest recoiling 8mm I've ever shot. Its a great rifle.

Well, I guess you did if you say you did. And, worse...let me ask....was it a home cold blue kit in the jar you disfigured her with? OMG...I bet it was. OMG...OMG...where's my heart medication?

Dale, grab your '03 and go shoot. Forget it. "just say no" to home reblueing. You will be fine. I've reblued stuff with a bottle. But a Hakim....I need meds too.
