i just got my new '80s series commander in stainless steel.it shoots just like i thought it would;excellent.i own four colts and all perform;no jams,no stovepipes,and scary accurate.i own a tank officers,a 1991 compact,the previously mentioned commander,and an army national match,the predasesor of the gold cup.i also own a kimber i really like{not as much as my colts}and my custom parts gun with an ithaca slide and many ed brown parts.i love American 1911's.God bless America.

I have a matte finish commander (series 80) That I had changed to electroless nickel. The reason I did this was the matte finish kept rusting on me. (story too long to tell). Anyway I love this gun and carry it often. Very reliable and accurate. More accurate than me. All of my 1911s are Colts except my Systema1927. Had a Kimber once, liked it but didn't love it. Not as accurate as the Colts so I sold it.
