| Senior Member | thanks Chris! Special thanks to Chris for this new Bersa topic! If you have experience with any Bersa products, I'd like to here your thoughts and comments. I'm considering getting a Bersa Ultra Compact 9mm, so any thoughts on those would be really great. Thanks, Jay1958

| Senior Member ![]() | I have a Bersa in .380. Love it. So far, no jams. I have tried quite a few different loads in it. Just a couple of boxes each and have stuck with the UMC 95gr FMJ stuff. I understand that shooting the Thunder with your hand high on the backstrap might bite you with the slide. I didn't have this trouble with the few I have fired, though I have small hands, so it may just be me. Range reports are due within the first month of purchase. LOL and Pics, did I mention pics?

Here are pics of my T380CC. I included a 20-dollar bill and a quarter in one of the photos for size reference. ![]() ![]() I know the quality of the pics isn't great, but hey, all I have on hand tonight is my camera phone. Best regards, Jay1958

| Senior Member | I understand your position, because of your bad experience, but there are many of us who have had great experiences with Bersa, and bad experiences with other manufacturers. My friend bought a Glock, and the first time he fired it, the sights fell off. He kept the Glock, had the sights re-installed and he has had no more problems and he is very happy with it. Neither one of these experiences, yours or his, means that all Bersas and all Glocks are "no good". Jay1958

| Senior Member | I have a Bersa .380 ACP Thunder Duo Tone. I have put about 1800 rounds thru it with no problem. I can not believe how accurate, reliable and easy to shoot for a $250 semi auto. Next to my Ruger revolvers the best liked handgun I have owned.

| Member | Jay1958, Speaking of Glocks, a friend of mine had a Glock 19, 9mm cal. It stove piped so often that you had to keep a screw driver in your back pocket to dislodge the unspent casing. Several times I had to slide the screw driver down the barrel and "punch" a tree to dislodge the shell. Maybe things have improved today. But years ago even the New York City police lodged many complaints against the Glock for the same problem. On the other hand my friend had a Glock model 21 (.45 cal) that preformed flawlessly. It became my wife's favorite handgun. Go figure. All things considered, Glock would not be my first choice for personal protection. I'd take a Smith or a Ruger over a Glock any day. Neither have failed me at any time. Firearms, like motorcycles, if you leave me stranded, you're history. Period. |

| Senior Member | Hi Jeff264, I completely understand your position, and I won't argue or even disagree with it. However, I guess from my point of view, even though my Bersa and my Ruger have never failed me, I know that there are people out there who have been failed by a Bersa and failed by a Ruger. Guns are machines, and machines fail. The real question is not: will it fail? the real question is: what is the failure rate and average usable life for this particular item? and what is the average MTBF? or average MRBF? Best regards, Jay1958 Quote:

I finally said goodbye to it and got a Kel-Tec. Actually got two, a P-11 9mm and a P3AT in .380. Both are super accurate, and have uniform trigger pulls. The choice is yours, but try the Bersa with serious target shooting using both double action and single action. Good luck in your choice. Dave ![]() | |
