Truely in love with...

My Sig P229!. It puts them where I aims them. And there is no change in point of impact when I switch from the 40 S&W and the 357 Sig barrels. At least not at the twenty feet I've been testing it out on. I'll have to see if the same applies a little further out next range session.

Cool

Took a target to my smith who sold me the Sig, had a fantastic group. He took one look at the target and begged me to give it to him. He's going to put it on his wall with a banner over it saying, "GOT SIG?"

I don't own a Sig, but the following has been my desktop on my computer for many months now; it's just beautiful eye candy:

When you said "Truely in love with...", I thought you were going to follow it up with "Elisabeth Hasselbeck". Oh, well.

Looking at getting serious at the range for accuracy. Both guns, according to forums, are great guns while one is 1/2 the price. The Sig is 220 Target in a 5" barrel as 45acp and the CZ 75B is 9mm in a 4.7" barrel. High end target pistols in both types are sky high in price for that 1 inch better pattern. I will never achieve that accuracy so why spent the money the $1K to $2K. SO, I figure 9mm is good enough to learn how to shoot for
2 inch patterns and far cheaper too. AM I on the right track here or not.???

It all depends on whay you're looking to obtain. It really doesn't matter if you shoot the BG in the right or left vetricle of the heart I guess. The only real point I was making in this thread was I am amazed that The Sig shoots about as good as my Dan Wesson even though the Sig's barrel is 1.1 inch shorter. Both guns cost less than a 1000 dollars though.....a LOT less.

Gandog56,
As you know statistics say the average shooting occurs in seconds and at a distance of 20 feet. I commend you for practicing at that distance. When I was shooting competively I started "point shooting" at distance from 5' to 30'.
Many times you won't have the opportunity (time, surprise element, darkness, position) to aim. Point shooting improved my abilities considerably.
Just a thought.

Funny you should say that, since I always put my targets at either 20 or 25 feet, depending on whether I feel lucky.

Ah, but I got two 1911's and one AK. The 1911's are a .45 amd a 10mm. The AK is a .223. So I had the funds for the Crimson Trace Grips.

I see this is an "older" thread, but will add my thougghts fwiw. I had a 229 in 357SIG and loved it..maybe 11 years ago. Sold it when money got tight. Now I want it back! I am surprised at all the bad rap the 357SIG gets on most forums. I had a 226 in 45 after that, a springfield 1911 in 45 and both made me long for my 357 again. Never had a malfunction, quicker target reacquisition and SEEMED more substanstial than a 9mm. Good Luck.

I have to agree with SW. I have 4 Sigs, 2 ea P226 with one being a .357 Sig and the other in 40 S&W. (I know I can just change the barrel but I wanted one of each so I got two) A P229 Equinox in 40 S&W and a P220 .45. I did a lot of research when I was thinking about the .357 Sig and was very much on the wire when deciding to buy one. I can not be any happier with my choice to buy it. I really like the Caliber and if cost of the ammo was not a factor I would have most of my guns in the .357 Sig. I love the round. Just the sound and flash alone are intimidating to most people and I find shooting the 40 and the .357 Sig out of the same gun I tend to shoot a much tighter group with the .357 Sig. Here are my pros and cons of the round.

Pros
Accurate
Great Penetration
intimidating to others
lots of power one of the fastest (fps) from a Semi Auto (although the +P in 9mm comes close)
Will penitrate metal better than a 40, 45, 9mm
lots of stopping power (high energy round)
very fun to shoot.

cons
Expensive (I buy my .357 on line from Ammo Man and save a lot on this caliber)
not good for home defense ( I say this because the round will go thru walls and will go much farther and you always have to know where that round is going. You could even penetrate to the point that it could go in to a home next door).
intimidation to the shooter. Although I do not find that the kick is that much more than anything else I have. The loudness and flash you get will be intimidating to some people.
Selection of Ammo, or maybe I should say lack of choice of Ammo. Most of the time I can only find one brand of .357 Sig Ammo at a store. But I am able to find it as least in some brand, so it is not a total loss here.

Although I shoot alot, I don't reload which I am sure would make a heck of a difference in cost. I am not an expert and what I wrote is just my oppinion and I am sure others will disagree on it.. and that is what I found when I searched from one end of the web to the other on this round. The biggest resistence to the .357 Sig seemed to come from the 1911 45Cal fans and rightly so it is one of the greatest guns ever made. It seemed that a person either loved .357 Sig or hated it, I love it. Now if you want a time proven round go with the .45, I have 4 of them, but if you want a round that is lighter, will penetrate where the .45 won't and just plain different than most of the other shooter's will have out there on the range try the .357 Sig, I'm glad I did.

Heck, Saiga makes AK-47 SHOTGUNS! They make AK-47 rifles in .223, 7.62 X 39, and .308.
Or at least their designs use an AK-47 action.
