Pertaining to Moose's rule about a bear or boar being on you in 2 to 2.5 seconds. At the Police acadmy my son went to they demonstrated a 21 ft rule. At a distance of 21 ft a person in about the time moose mentioned can be on top of you. Meaning never ever let your guard down and they also practiced quick drawing at this distance, you'd be surprised how close an asailent will be by the time you've drawn your weapon. In side this distance depending on what your assailent is attaching with, be prepared for hand to hand combat or fast back steppng to draw and shoot. Another tactic that they were taught was to yell, I mean yell no matter who's witnessing what's takeing place is......................... BACK THE FU_K UP !!! NOW !!! Would you believe this works ! Because most not so serious offenders don't expect a cop to talk that way. I swear. My son has done that to a group of another minority a few times and it calmed or scared them...Good By...A.H

| yea, a.h. i call it evasive maneuvering , i was just talking with him about a scope not being a downfall in that situation in my opinion. but cool advise on the yell, i've used that type of psychology when my kids get hurt or scared, they'd start crying after they fell or whatever and i knew it was nothing serious... i would just yell...hheeeyyyy!... they would be shocked and stop crying and look at me to see what the hlll that was and i would just tell them ""shock value" see, now does it really hurt that bad now....no...cool your o.k. then?" and they generally were. it works when dogs are coming at you also, just keep eye contact and move slowly once you've broke their charge with the yell.wow, it's hard to keep on topic around here sometimes isn't it. ![]()

Isn't the average gun fight distance 21 feet? This would mean that practicing firing from the retention position is really important. Yelling was also a technique they taught. The idea was that as the "attackee" you(...or I should say your brain) are in a oda (observe, decide, act) loop. The attacker has already completed this 3 or 5 second process. By yelling, you might put the attacker into another oda loop which buys you a few seconds.

I have a Mini14. Love it. It isn't a target rifle but I wasn't looking for a target rifle when I bought it. Its a great little carbine that is 100% reliable, durable and accurate enough for my purposes. I have a 10/22 that is everything I want from a .22lr plinker. Fun and reliable. Reliable.

my current rugers are:two bisleys in 45 colt,a 10/22,a 50th anniversary mark 2,and a ranch rifle with a hogue stock.i have owned various blackhawks as well, none at present.in my experance all rugers are well made and are good working guns.the hogue stock did make my groups more consistant on the ranch rifle.the base pins on both my bisleys sometimes come loose under heavy recoil, and i plan on installing pins by belt mountain soon.i also have sighted in a 77 in 308 for a friend and it was a fine bolt action rifle.so in answer to your original question on opinion on rugers;all are good, there is no bad,and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Just one for me. M77 VT in 223. She's a big lady but on a good day I can get MOA at 175meters. Currently saving for a 4inch barrel dock, 6flutes finished in black duracoat and a synthetic stock bedded and floated, might even hit it with some camo paint. Pics will follow
