| Need help sighting in scope Hello, I see this section doesn't get the traffic the other sections do but I hope someone can help. A couple years ago I bought a air rifle for my son. At the time I put a red dot sight on it (like my .22 pistols and 10/22) and all was well. Recently I pulled my variable scope from my mauser and offered him the choice of the dot sight or the telescopic. He chose the scope. I went out and got mounts and mounted it on his rifle, I also attempted to center the cross hairs as best I could. Well, last weekend we set out to sight it in and pop some baloons. We can not get it sighted in, it is out of adjustment. We were shooting ~15yrds and it hits about 5" low but centered pretty well. As I said, the elevation adjustment is maxed out. I have no idea what to do. Any help or input would be great. Thank you! |

| Senior Member ![]() | Air guns recoil funny for normal scopes. I can't say without looking, but your scope may be damaged. When in doubt install a scope recommended for air rifles. Hope I'm not the bearer of bad news

| Air guns require different scopes than regular guns. Start w/ that for sure. You can center your reticle w/ a small mirror. Hold it flush against the exit end of scopes & look thru the eyepiece. You will see the reticle; adjust as needed to align the two [2] images into one [1]; scope is centered. I learned this from a TECH @ Leupold as i had same problem & called them. Good luck |
