Exclamation Highpoint mag warning

I finally bought the combination of a ATI stock and the elusive 15 round magazine for my highpoint 9 mm carbine. I came in today and after a less than simple instalation of the stock, it came to my dissapointment that the plastic shroud for the mag was too long for the mag to catch on the release and without it, the mag simply fits too loosly in the grip. Evidentally, the 15 round magazine only fits the ATI stock after the shroud has had about 1 1/2 cm cut from its top and smoothed out with a rotary tool. I just wanted to give a heads up to anyone looking to upgrade their carbine.

Don't get me wrong. I think the little gun is great now. It was just a bigger pain than I thought it would be. All is well that ends well.

Good to hear. However, some self induced stress is the last thing I'm looking for, at least for a while. Please do give a report on how it handles. I might change my mind. It is a slick looking set up.

Just about to do so after I bore sight the laser dot.

Well, I'm dissapointed. The stock did it's job. It's much nicer than the original. However, the new magazine failed to feed almost every other round until in my anger, I threw it into the dirt. Now for some reason, it works just fine. Go figure.

Guess I need to throw mine in the dirt. Had to make the same Mod's, due to my ATI stock. And mine do not feed worth a darn. I did find on another site that the ProMag 15 rd mags nearly if not all have this problem (not feeding). It seems ( from what they say ) the top of the mags are bent different than the factory 10 rd mags. They say you can hold them side by side and bend the 15 rds to match the 10's and they should work. Haven't tried it yet, but I will. Other than that, my HighPoint is great!

I own a 9mm 995 Hi Point carbine with the factory stock, and with the factory 10 round mags it will shoot as fast and and as often as you want with no problems.

PROMAG is the company that makes the 15 round mags, not Hi Point. They are aftermarket mags.

I bought 2 of the Promag mags, and they did nothing but jam. I sent them in and got 2 brand new replacement mags and they do the same thing. I have heard of people making them work, but have had no luck myself.

But the Hi Point factory 10 round mags are problem free. Fire all day with no problems.

I agree with waltham41. I haven't tried the ProMags myself, but all I have heard about them are problems. For the most part I really like this gun. I use it almost every weekend (especially with the cost of ammo going up). The only other thing that I had to do to mine was lock tight the the sight set screws. They kept rattling loose on me. If anyone is interested I did a little write up of my experiences with the 995 9mm at: StoppingPower.Info - Hi Point 9mm 995 Car - StoppingPowerWiki

Don't misunderstand. The problem IS with the AFTER MARKET PROMAG!! NOT the carbine itself. I wouldn't trade my Hi point 9mm carbine for anything. One of my favorites. Just do not buy a ProMag after market 15 rd magazine and expect it to work first time every time. Chances are it won't. Never had any problems with the factory mags don't expect I ever will. It's a great little, reliable firearm and simply a hoot to shoot.

I'm considering shooting up my promag so I won't be tempted to waste any more time or ammo trying to get it functioning.
