Can anyone out there show me pics of their SA M1A1 Supermatch rifles? Specifcally the rear sight? (Hooded aperature) Over the weekend I helped my landlord negotiate about $7,500 dollars worth of guns and ammo for $3,000 from his deceased buddy's mother. (21 guns total) For helping him he let me pick two guns at my "estimated price" for helping him (plus all the ammo is free...five 500 rd cases of Match grade .308 unopened...and a gymbag full of handgun ammo) The two guns I picked at my lowball estimated cost was an Ex.cond Highstandard Victor with the weight under the barrel and a Springfield Armory Supermatch M1A1 with the synthetic camo Marine stock and stainless barrel. (I'm getting both guns for a total sum of $1,000) I don't know much about M1A1's but I noticed that this one was twice as heavy as the two other M1A1's he's getting along with the other guns... Didn't realize it was a Supermatch until I did research on it...the site says it has a hooded aperature sight...I didn't pay much attention when I looked at it, just knew it was top of the line. I'm wondering if my eyes will even like the sight (I wear glasses to see distance...have to take them off to read) I suppose there are different sights/scopes you can put on these also? Any pics would be appreciated....we go pick up the guns tomorrow at noon. This guy also had A bunch of unopened USGI M14 mags that we are splitting up because my landlord said he will probably keep one of the other M1A's.

My bad...it wound up being a National match with the blue barrel/camo stock. I am also in possession of an M1A (ARMSCORP Baltimore Ohio MD on receiver) that has a regular sight on it...how do I take it off to swap it with the Nat.Match one? Thanks... P.S. The High Standard Victor I got in the deal is pretty awesome too...

do a search for sight dissassembly for an M1 garand, the sight comes apart the same way. have you given the NM sight a try yet, they do tend to allow for more precision shooting. too bad it wasnt a supermatch, as they are spendy guns that are well worth having. the NM is still a good rifle though.
