ZHTF handgun

according to the experts the brainstem must be destroyed to incapacitate the undead.
my thoughts are a ..357 1911 type pistol.
it must be hi cap.
any thoughts on this pressing matter?

GLOCK in .40S&W. Whether the 27, 23, or 22. I don't want to worry about it functioning if I have to go neck-deep in mud or such in ZHTF to get where I'm goin'.

Use Ball or Winchester Ranger and it will destroy the brain matter.

Max Brooks says you only need to destroy what's left of the brain, so a straight-up headshot is good enough.

Yup, not a huge recoil, so good for most users, but a large enough caliber and high enough pressure cartridge to really do some damage. The .45 is great, but there are enough people out there (myself included) that have an issue with the "bang" and the recoil out of most .45ACP's. What's strange is that I have no problem with a Kimber 1911 in .45ACP, but I do with almost everything else, even milspec 1911's.

i am used to the S.A. 1911 G.I but it doesn't have the capacity i require for this application.

i do not i repeat DO NOT want a 9mm. for this

even in my favorite training film DOTD they were complaining about the lack of destruction the 9mm has

drum mags are available for the 1911.
that seems like a good thing to have ready and waiting

If the Zombies are close enough to be hit in the brain stem with a handgun, as they say down South, you in a heap of trouble boy. Instead of a handgun I would rather have a good pair of running shoes. And a nice over the should scabbard for my shotgun. Run Forest run.

.45acp or .45LC and 44mag work great for causing trauma.

Dallas thank yee !!! For use'in our southern inginueity in yore post .

If'in I needed a brain stem displacement firearm, then it wouldn't be a pistol.

It would have to be a shotgun, firing #1 buck shot ! This would even remove the whole head !...A.H

Alright then Dallas and AH, if it's a shotgun you need, since this is a thread about ZHTF handguns, here ya go: Serbu Super Shorty 9 12GA

Don't complain if you break your hand shootin' 3" magnums out of it, though.

Agree with the shotgun, buck would rather have 00 Buck.

I'm afraid that with a Zombie bearing down on me I may be shaking too much for a .40 cal. Better go with the .45ACP or .44mag+ and leave no doubt.

Can you handload silver bullets for the vampires?

Silver bullets are for werewolves try wooden bullets for vampires, heart shots only

Yeah that's right - silver bullets for werewolves.

Wooden bullet for vampires - better back it down to sub-sonic. I like the .45 with wooden spitzers for vampires.

they sell 7.62x39 wooden practice rounds you know....

but yes a shotgun is a must.
now back to a sidearm.
if you are in close quarters there may not be room to use a shotgun.
im thinking a hi cap 1911 .45
