Marlin 9mm camp carbine

I just got back from a gun show (I got to quit going to those things! lol) and picked up a new toy there.
A Marlin 9mm camp carbine in what looks like decent shape with scope,see-through mounts and folding stock.
I don't know much about the capibilities of this rifle so if anyone is familiar with it, educate me.
How does it shoot reliability-wise; performance of 9mm on range?
I've shot a 9mm pistol but haven't fired a rifle of that cal. yet. I bought it, I guess, to mate up with my 9mm handguns. I know it's ok for varmints but how will it do on larger game. Is it ok for say white-tail deer?
I know you guys out there have the knowledge I need, let me pick your brain.
Thanks for your input.
