| Super Moderator ![]() | 40 cal Model 96 Is that the right name for the 40 cal full size Beretta? I'm considering it among many others as my first CCW. One thing I'd like is to be able to take it down into barrel, frame, and slide regularly. I'm particularly inclined towards the one with the accessory rail. Any good or bad opinions? | Yes, the 96 is the 40SW. Excellent gun. Comes in double action only I believe. I have a LEO friend in IL who carries one. I'm not sure if they come with the rail or not. Their are trigger guard adapters avail for it that allow you to affix your toys to is with no problem.......

| The 96 Vertec comes w/ accessory rail. Of the 40 S&W guns I've shot, owned, rented or traded away, the Beretta 96fs was the nicest most accurate. I you like the round & this is one of your options, I wouldn't hesitate in getting the Beretta.
