Trader Rating: (0) | I just want to say hi, and relate how I aquired my Remington 03-a3. On a trip to my retirement haven in AL. I stopped to refuel in a town called Dodge City, at Big Jake's pawn, bait, fireworks, gun and gas store. Went inside to look. Saw on the rack what was described as a Remington 243 rifle. Gun shop wasn't open yet so I didn't want to wait I left. Stopped on way back looked and discovered it was a model 03-a3 made in 1943.I looked at the price tag it read $149.00 needless to say I was ready to buy on the spot, but couldn't because it was Memorial Day. Luckily they had a lay away program. Put down the money and it was saved for me. Waited until mid-July couldn't wait anymore picked up the rifle. total cost $161.98. What a bargan! |

| Super Moderator ![]() ![]() | new gunman...you most likely got a real bargain. I also have an 03A3 Remington and wouldn't sell it for $500. After you've examined your bargain more carefully at home with it disassembled somewhat...what have you found that was covered up? Hopefully, you don't discover something which lowered it's priceto $161.98. It's amazing that Big Jake's Pawn Shop didn't bother to learn what rifle they actually had. They blew it on this item so much that I'd want to go back and look over other mispriced items that might be worth buying.

| Senior Member | Nice find indeed! I recently found a smith corona 1903 for $200, but it has a sporter stock. It's a great shooter, but is going to take what I paid for the gun and then some to restore it to the original 1903 look. |
