PA-63 parts

I bought my PA-63 last week and ordered some ammo for it. Got it by Thursday so I tried it out on the range in my pasture. It's fun and accurate, except it has a rough edge that rubbed a blister on my hand in the web.

Anyway, I took it out again today and noticed when I was about done that I had lost the extractor claw, the plunger, and the spring. According to the Makarov pistol book that I have, I'm also missing the slide connecting lug.

Where can I get these parts and others as I need them for my PA-63? It still runs by the way, and kicks the empty s out. Thanks for your help!

You have nothing to worry about, there are NO missing parts. The PA-63 is not a true Mak, the internals are actually a copy of the Walther PPK. The only thing it really has in common with a Makarov is the looks and ammo that I know of.

GoodAim has a link to a PA 63 manual here: http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/mak...arov-ammo.html (Makarov Ammo)

You can get a good look at the location of the extractor and make sure that's what's missing. Like BamaBowTie says, it's not the same as a Makarov.

Oh I am not missing any parts. BoomBoom. Mine is working just like it should. I was saying to our friend dgray64 that it wouldn't function with those particular parts in place.

Took mine out for the first time Saturday, and the damn thing was all over the paper, especially to the left. Definitely not impressed. Gotta have a talk with it.....

GoodAim, sorry, didn't make myself clear, I was trying to direct dgray64 to your link so he could check out his parts. The way I read his post, I thought he noticed the missing parts after shooting, could have worked loose, especially if he shot a bunch without cleaning out the cosmoline.

rondog, mine was all over the paper until it "broke in." Then I was at an outdoor range, started shooting it and again it's accuracy was uneven. I was thinking "maybe for close range SD, but this thing really doesn't hit well." But, about an hour into the session, shooting that and a few other guns, it started drilling them. By the end of that range session, it was the most accurate gun I shot that day. I mentioned it to the R.O., he asked if it was new. I told him it was a surplus that looked to me like it hadn't been used. He said many new guns needed to have the barrel break in a bit, he recommended shooting with a few hundred FMJs, thought that the copper would remove any burrs and polish any rough spots from the rifling. I've got several guns, but only had two new ones, so that sounded reasonable to me. I've gone several times since and it's been more accurate than I am. Still haven't benched it, I might try it next session.

Hum maybe that's all i need to do with mine. I too have had terrible luck with gettin shots in a group. How many rounds have you ran thru yours. I have only gone thru one box. Mine appeared to be new when I got it. I went to clean it and it was already cleaned. Very small trace of cosmoline in the edges. I think the gun shop where I by my guns cleans then very well before he puts them out.

I haven't even gone through a box with mine yet, but I just bought two more boxes. Guess I need to devote some range time to just my 63. FWIW, mine came from AIM Surplus, and it's in good shape, but it was filthy nasty dirty. I even had to take the grips off and scrape crud from underneath them. Didn't bother me though, it's a used gun after all.

I should be able to adjust the rear sight left or right a little bit with a small hammer and punch and some gentle persuasion, right?

That is what I understand it takes to move the sight although there is a more civilized manner to do it. You can get a sight tool to move the sight. That way you won't mark up the slide with the punch. I haven't even gotten that far with mine. The aim was so awful. I had a really hard time gettin anywhere near where it was pointed. The action is really harsh. I think that is a contributing factor. It's made from what I can tell for close up encounters. I was at about 30 feet with mine. So that may be a issue. I thought well maybe it's just my eyes. So I set up another target 100 yrds out for my M44 and had no problem. However I did forget to open the bayo with the first magazine so the first shots were on the paper but all of them were off to the left. LOL. Gotta have it open to get good shots!

I was in my third box when it started shooting better. At the range today, the FEG shot wel freehand, total of 30 rounds kept in a 3" ellipse at 15 ft. and in a 6" ellipse at 25 ft, with a couple of "flyers" at each distance due to operator error.

I figured a used, surplus pistol would already be "broken in". Guess I just need to go out and make a buncha holes with it and see if it gets any better.

rondog,
Got my pa63 a couple weeks ago. It was never fired also. Took it to the range with 100rds to shoot. The first 8 rounds were all about 6in left (at 50ft) so I stopped and really looked over the gun. I noticed the rear sight was about 1/16in off center (to the left). Adjusted my sight picture to compensate and got great groups after that. I'll have it adjusted before the next time I go.

I took mine out for the first time today and it shot great. It will put a full mag into 2" @ 10 yds. My reloads worked great as well. All-in-all I'm very happy with it.
