I have have saw some rabbit or coon dogs that would tree a squirrel but have never hunted with a real squirrel dog.You don't hear too much about squirrel dogs in west central Indiana.I bet its a real hoot though and a great way to get a mess of squirrel legs.

My wolf dog looks around up high when you say "Squirrel"...she knows to get em. She will tree them when they get within her run range, she tries her best to climb the tree and get them. Gives me chance to get the shotgun. Rich

The best squirrel dog I ever saw was a dachsund(sp) but I never needed a squirrel dog. If there is a squirrel nearby you just need to sit and wait and be quiet. However, the very best way to locate squrrel is to sit up in a tree in a deer stand and pretend you're hunting deer. You'll attract dozens of loud annoying squirrels.
