.444 Anybody else?

Anybody else hunt or shoot the .444? I have found it to be a great lever action that can astound those who picture all lever actions to be inferior when it comes to accuracy. I mean all joking aside, I will not take a real long range shot because the cartridge doesn't lend itself to that type of shooting. But for anything 150 yards and under, it will shoot a group where every shot is touching. I love this big, slow beast of a cartridge.

I like the 45-70 better, but the .444 seems like a decent brush buster for short range deer and hog hunting.

I had one! The 444SS and in nearly mint condition. I got it cheap from a friend of mine and it was really nice, although the scope was too big. I don't hunt so I traded it for my little Ruger .22 mag because I couldn't afford the ammo for the 444 and I wanted a single-action revolver to plink with. If I had it to do over, I think I would have just sold it straight out and added what money I could to get a bigger revolver but I'm happy with what I got. I only gave $300 for that rifle so I can't complain.

From what I understand, the 444 Marlin has about as much energy at 100 yards as 44 magnum does from the muzzle. It sure was a canon. I'd love to have a handgun that sounded like that. xD If I get another lever-action like that, it'll probably be a 30-30 for versatility.
