Whats the best mount for a cetme 308?

I've heard of claw type mounts slipping on cetme. So whats the best type of mount to use, I realy want to put optics on my cetme but I dont know what to use for a mount please help!

Also I realy dont want to have to modify the gun.

Personally, I've been looking very hard at this item: TAPCO-World's finest shooting and military gear -

But I have no idea if it works well or not.

Like you, I've heard that the B-Square mounts suck and that the claw mounts can be hit-or-miss. I've had my CETME for a while now and would love to hear what other CETME owners have found to be "the best" for them.

looks interesting not to exspensive either. Im going to print out the page and take it to my gun dealer to see what he thinks.

The claw mounts often need a bit of 'tweaking' of the claws and the pads. Careful filing and fitting. Many of these mounts (especially if the price is just too good to be true!) are airsoft units, of questionable reliability for a real gun.

I've had a claw mount for my CETME for a while now. I can't say it's the best thing, but it's not bad. Theres a area on the CETME receiver that seems to be a place to mount the claw style mount where you'll find two raised areas on each side of the reciever, problem is, my mount will slide foward of those all the way up till it gets stopped by one of the claws "legs" hittinf the ejection port. So, I've just decided to mount it there so that it can't move foward any more. That worked, but then created another problem. Now the scope with shift to the right after a few shots and throught it off, and you can jerk the scope back to into place if you mant, but chances are, it'll only get looser. I plan on trying to shim it up nice and tight and test it out soon. I'll let you know how that part goes, and if it works well, then that's the way I'd suggest going because it's quick to mount, and dismount and theres no modification needed.

Well, I do recall someone somewhere on the net saying they threaded the hole that's in the top of the receiver above the scope mounting area so that they could lock down a mount.

Maybe there's a way to use that little hole to "locate" a mounting tab that's attached/welded to a mount so that it doesn't move anywhere left, right, forwards or back.

You'd just have to be sure the tab isn't more than the thickness of the receiver at that location, since the bolt assembly is seen when looking through the hole.

I used a Bi-rail claw mount from Tapco, model MNT-606H, it did slip until I went to a forum and learned how to properly mount the mount. There is a hole in the top of the reciever into which you can thighten a set screw that is in the mount. This will keep the mount from walking, however, be careful not to screw the set screw in to deep or you will foul the bolt. Also, don't tighten the claws to tight or you will squeeze the reciever and again foul the bolt. After I learned these things (the hard way), mine has been working fine.

b-square has one for it. plus n-star . they work like magic at a reasonable price.
