| Stock Screws
Since nobody has responded yet, I'm going to re-write this. My first question was, what screws do I need for my 1903 stock, but I now believe that the receiver attaches to the stock through the trigger block, and those are the only 2 screws used. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me. I then realized that there is some sort of "ring" that is between the barrel and receiver, which the handguard slides under. My rifle doesn't have this, and I can't figure out what this part is called. I also don't know how to install it, or if it is going to mess up my headspace. I'm going to have to have a gunsmith look it over no matter what, but does anyone know what this band or ring is called? Last edited by Bravo; 09-23-2007 at 09:43 PM. |

If you have an 03A3, you need Numrich part SP79, handguard ring, $4.80, Numrich catalog #28. If you have a 1903, the handguard slips under SP48, rearsight base collar (also a Numrich stock #,) $41.95 The attaching screws you need are SP 29, rear guard screw; and SP30, front guard screw. Both are $1.75. These are the two that attach the triggerguard to the rifle. I just looked at the picture. It looks as though you have an 03A3 upper handguard. All you need now is the SP79 handguard ring. If you have a 1903 rifle, you will need to buy a 1903 handguard, as they are different from an 03A3 handguard..they are shorter. Better yet, send that wood out here to me. You don't want to be burdened with it.

That particular stock is for an A3. It has the A3 handguard, and you have the clearance cut for the handguard ring just foward of the front stock bolt. The stock would fit an 03, but not the handguard. Installation of the handguard ring does not effect the headspace. It just slips in. |
