For a right hander using a modified weaver grip jerking the trigger places the shot at 7 o'clock, breaking the wrist (relaxing the wrist) results in 6 O'clock strikes, anticipating recoil tends to drive the strikes to about 12 O'clock, too little trigger finger and/or to much finger pressure in the supporting(off) hand tends to string the shots at about 8:30 to 10 O'clock, heeling (too much pressure on the grip with the strong hand heel) throws the shots fairly consistantly to 10 o'clock, while not all inclusive it's a good guide to basic errors, reverse the clock if you are left handed
