| Senior Member | I got a PT1911!!!!!
Well, I have been thinking about getting a 1911 in a few weeks when I cash out my vacation, so yesterday my g/f and I went to a local shop just to price shop. I was really leaning towards the Taurus anyway, I just wanted to see what the price difference in it and some of the other brands they stock around here (RIA, Springfield, and Kimber). This weekend turned out to be their first anniversary sale and they were doing 12 months same-as-cash on everything in the store! Now I own a PT1911 AND my g/f got the PT140 she has been wanting. On top of that, Monday is her birthday and last night I proposed to her with a beautiful $1200 ring! This has been really good weekend. I took a pic of our Taurus pistols the 1911 and the 66 are mine and the 140 and 85UL are her carry guns.

Congratulations on a great weekend. My son has a PT-140 that he's had for a couple of years, so far he's had no problems at all with a wide range of ammo from ball to hollow points.

So how does the Tarus shoot. I'd like to get your review. I'm looking to purchase a 1911 style gun. Schu |

Today was actually the first chance I had to shoot it. We put together a group outing and had a blast! As for the Taurus, I absolutely love it. I put just under 100 rounds through it today (Wolf and Blazer Brass) with no malfunctions. I was busting clays at 30 yards in no time, so the gun is more than accurate for defence. Trigger was nice and crisp and I am VERY pleased with my purchase and I now have to keep a close eye on it so the Fiance doesn't run away with it! If you want a tinkertoy get a RIA or Springfield Mil-Spec, but if you're in the market for a good 1911 for carry I would suggest giving the Taurus an honest try.

| Checked out the PT1911
Looked at the PT1911 today. I was very impressed and the store owner has had only great reviews. I really like the gun. I also looked at several other 1911's, custom, comps, Kimber, Springfield and I stillwent back to the Tarus.... Think I just might trade in the S&W 629 Hunter Classic II. ![]() Schu |

Tauras makes a good gun, dont know much about the pt1911 but, as most 1911 clones they are all good.

What about Star. I saw a 1911 in 9mm Cal. for 250. Is it worth it??

I was issued my first 1911A when I was 18 years old in th US Army. Since then I have owned a number of 1911s, had a nice Springfield Loaded, but my daughter couldn't live with out it and couldn't afford to buy one. So I had to look around for a new one and bought the PT1911. After several months of shooting it all I can say is that it is an excellent buy. Very accurate, good trigger, like the Heinie sight, never has jammed with about 6 different types of ammo. Only change I made was to put a decent set of checkered walnut grips to get rid of the plastic ones. You made a good buy. Enjoy it, I've enjoyed 1911s for 50 years.

The PT1911 was $550 out the door. Yes make sure the Star is Luger and not Largo, although if it is largo it can be converted to luger by replacing the bbl.

Congrats on your new aquisitions and your upcoming nuptuals. I only have one Taurus firearm, a 5 1/2" bbl Gaucho in 45 colt. If your PT1911 does you half as good as my Gaucho you will be very happy.
