raging bull range report

ok 1st shot..this is the COOLEST!!!!
shots 2 through 8 GOD I LOVE THIS GUN!
shots 8 through 12 uh oh my skeleton isnt strong enough to put up with this much longer.
i am quite slender and this is just too hard on my wrist and palm to shoot as much as i want to.
the heart and mind are willing but the body wont back it up.
i am going to get a wrist brace and some shooting gloves so i can put a lot of rounds through this in a sitting.
the porting does a great job but it is such a powerful round i am having trouble believing the tales of ANYBODY going through 80 rounds or whatever ....
p.s. i was using 300 gr.win. super x
i know that i can just go with the 45l.c. loads for this but i sure like the power of the bigboys!

Sounds like the 45LC would be the way to go! Maybe a cylinder of .454 then switch? The dual purpose nature of this revolver really intrest me.

i am also investing in some shooting gloves!
this thing is a hoot!

maybe i should buy about 500 rnds. of long colt so i will have some brass?

i can talk myself into anything...

Just a sugestion.Use a firm grip like a handshake, not a crushing grip. When you grip hard there isnt much give to absorb recoil.Place all of your fingers over your gripping wrist behind the firearm, not up around the grip. You get more hold down support.Dont forget to switch back if shooting a self-loader.Also I still use a rubber ball to strengthen my grip and wrist.Just squeeze it a lot.It gets to be a habit and you miss your ball when you dont have it. sam.

He do have a point there Billy. But get the shooting glove(s). They do help. I generally shoot one box of .454 and two boxes of 45 Colt per range session. It's sick the way a .45 Colt almost feels like shooting a 38 special out of a .357 magnum because of the mass of the gun. Not to mention your hand thanks you for the easing up on it.

Billy!
Another drill to strengthen your grip and wrist strength is to take a short length of dowel or broom handle (about 12-16") tie a stout cord approx 36" long to the center of it and the other end to an 2 liter soda bottle full of water, start out with elbows tucked to your waist, forearms level with the deck, palms down and using only your forearm and wrist muscles roll the cord up lifting the bottle all the way up and then lower in like fashion (5 reps) then with palms up repeat as before. 3 sets a day and you will be amazed at how soon and how much this can improve both your stability and recoil management!

You need to hang out at ammobrasstrader.com. I just traded 100 something once fired 45 Colts and 200 brand new Starline .45 Colt cases for other brass I also needed. I also did score some .454 Casull empties there, but that's rare, and I had to give up about four 40 S&W empties for each Casull empty.

By the way, your report is a whole lot on what it feels like, and nothing on how it shoots!

I love the .45LC when shooting cowboy loads. I'm not sure how the .454cas compares, but the .45LC +P rounds (specifically the 300 grain buffalo loads) are fun for about 2 shots, then it's like, ehh, I would love to shoot it to save my life, but it isn't fun to "plink" with them. Not to mention expensive.

The .45LC +P in my 4.5" Blackhawk feels like nearly 2x the recoil that I feel from my uncles 8" .44mag. I'm glad that the gun can shoot those loads, but it's not much fun to shoot. It does turn some heads at the range though

I want to buy one just to mess with people at the range. I think a silenced .22 might be more fun though, "Are you even shooting bullets?"
