Using a slug...I read in another internet review that the use of a slug is a waste. It's lighter in weight ( about 95gr ) and the accuracy sux on the slug. I think cost wise the 45LC would be your best bet...and a lot more accuate.

I just shot a "Judge" this weekend with the 3" barrel and man is that a sweet gun. I didn't care for the soft grip but it does help with the recoil. 410 at 15 ft is about 1 1/2 ft around!!! Too fun!!!

The rifling also creates a spin for the shot to help concentrate it from such a short barrel. And yes the grip takes a bit of getting used to, but not bad after a while. extex_cop is correct in a way, a Corbon 45LC+P in a JHP is deadly and fairly accurate up to 50 yards, didn't care much for the slugs after the +P rounds.(with the 6" barrel). I prefer the Corbons for the 45's and 00 buck for .410 loads. But 4's and 6's work well also.

Using a slug in a shotgun instead of a shotshell for certain targets and distances makes sense to me.

But, the Taurus revolver enables the use of a much better solution for those targets.

Please correct my assumption if I am wrong in this assessment. I am interested in learning what the advantage would be to use a slug rather than a .45 LC round in this revolver.

I will be picking this gun up tomorrow... I am by no means a pistol expert in fact this is my first pistol to own. I wanted something to whack snakes with! One of my Bird dogs was bitten last year so I have decided to shoot a few snakes. Anyway... I pick the gun up tomorrow... any suggestions on what not to shoot through the gun?

I thought I would pick up some .410 #6 shot. Does anyone have any knowledge of the damage lead, steel, Bismuth might do to the Rifling of the Chamber?

Can someone search for a Laser replacment grip. Since I am new to the pistol world I am not having any luck... I thought it would be kind of cool to have a laser sight.

I will be getting the long barrel in SS. I have only seen one of these guns, it was a short barrel SS that had a brushed finish. I guess that is what mine will look like also.

Soo... Snakes! and.... and Doves? watchout!

Seems I'm just a follower now. I too got the stainless 6" version. Shot it today for the first time with 45 Colts and 410 shells.

I had the same patterning experience, about an inch in pattern diameter for every foot of distance. That would be a spread of about 286MOA. I wouldn't trust it for use against two legged predators, but for small rabid 4 legged ones and poisonous no-legged ones it would be the ticket, which is why I got it, plus I can use 45 Colts for the 2 legged or large 4 legged predators.

BTW, the 45 Colts didn't kick too much in it. They felt almost as mild as the 38s did in my newly acquired Colt Trooper.

I would think that rifling in the barrel would cause shot to spread, unlike the person above who thinks it would concentrate the shot. Yeah, definately would work on snakes, but I would want a nice 45 Colt if me shooting the snake annoyed Mr. Bear. Maybe alternate shot and bullet?

The rifling does cause the shot to spread rapidly.I believe they are great for those who desire them but for me to invest in a firearm that is not really a .45Colt revolver nor a .410 shotgun and spend more for one than one of each would cost,I cant justify it for me.Have fun with them and please post your findings and maybe you can change my views on it. sam.

I am with Sam. I don't really need to be able to fire .410 and .45Colt thru the same gun. I would rather just have the Shotty and the .45. Plus the 5 shot capacity is leaving a gap for me to desire more. I think IMO that they are very cool looking and that they have their own Niche but I am just not interested in a 5 shot anything. I love my Hi Cap magazines.

. Oh I would like to see what kinda damage that 00 Buckshot does at 25 ft. outta that thing though. I think someone need to kill a cantalope with it. LOL

You are of course correct. As sometimes happens with me. I think one thing and my fingers type something totally different. It most definitely helps spread the shot. I for sure prefer a mix of 00 buck and .45LC. It's been a great gun so far and have been impressed with it's effectiveness and versatility.

Let me know where you can get both a 410 repeater and a 45 Colt DA/SA revolver for $400. I think it's great to cover both snakes and bear with one revolver, at least if you're not out in the woods to hunt. The stainless steel is great in case you take a spill in the water. But certainly to each his own.
