Hows Your Bow Season Going?

The bow season in my area of Indiana has been in since October 1st.I have been seeing a good amount of deer but mostly smaller bucks and does.I have yet to see a shooter buck.There are more rubs and scrapes starting to show up since the cooler weather has arrived and hopefully this will get the big ones moving.How is your bow season going in your area?

Not real great. 'bout the same as you. Seen plenty of deer, just not the ONE. Still to warm for me to get real excited yet, but these cool mornings are helping. Don't know where in Hoosier land you are, but down here there is a lot of concern with Blue tongue disease. Seems its bad across the river in KY and some reported cases on this side of the river. Everyone is just hoping it doesn't decimate the deer herds.

Hello mosineer,good to hear from another hoosier bowhunter.I have heard that there is a bad widespread outbreak of E.H.D. in southern Indiana.I live in southern Vermillion county and have found a couple dead deer in my creek bottoms here as well as witnessed a very sick buck.It hit west central Indiana real hard last year but so far it does't seem as widespread.E.H.D has no age or sex barriers and infects all deer.It seems that entire bachelor groups of bucks can be entirely wiped out.Last year a group of 5 bucks were found dead just upstream of my property.Good luck with the E.H.D. and your bowhunting.Let us know if you get that big one your after.

WOW!! Guy I hunt with every now and then just got him a nice 8 point buckzilla. The place he had the deer processed weighed him in field dressed @ 213 lbs. I am from the other side of the state, but I have spent quite a bit of time in your area. Terra Haute, Rockville, and Turkey Run. Canoed Sugar creek a time or two. I mainly hunt in the Jackson and Scott Co area, and around my place. So far all the deer I have seen are healthy looking. I hope it stays that way. Wish you luck also.. Hope we can post some pics of some nice deer..

I'm in OH all week for school (dang it) I don't get back 'till late Friday night. Duck season opens Saturday, let the conflict of interest begin.
I'd like to pull the camper to where I duck hunt, take vacation, hunt ducks untill 1300 and then deer hunt in the afternoon and evening.

Wasn't able to get a shot at old Buckzilla with the old arrow spitter, but was able to put some meat in the freezer with a nice sized doe.... on to firearm season for now..

I'm pretty hyped up about the weekend after Thanksgiving. Me and a buddy are goin out Saturday and Sunday to a couple nice hot spots. I'm plannin on having a great time, and if I'm lucky catchin something with a rack.

I was unable to fill my bow tag with a buck this fall.Not that there wasn't lots of opportunity.I saw more bucks this season than I have ever saw.A lot of them were 1 1/2 year olds and even some 2 1/2 year olds.I ended up seeing 4 real good bucks and managed to miss 2 of them.Guess thats why they call it bowhuntng.I did however fill my Buck Tag with my .44 mag rifle on Thanksgiving day.I shot a 7 pt.(8 pt. with a broken Brow tine)that had a 17 1/2 inch insIde spread.It was one of the bucks I had hunted with my bow.

Cool deal. How long is your bow season? Ours runs from Oct 1 -end of January.

Indiana's bow season is 2 part,early and late.The early season runs from Oct.1st.until Dec.2nd. and the late runs from Dec.8th. to Jan.6th.There is an off week separating the seasons.There is also a 32 day firearms and Muzzle Loader season that co-insides and occurs during the seasons.It can be tough to find and kill a good buck once all the gun seasons are over.I prefer to trophy hunt the early Bow Season and if un-successful take a decent Buck with a gun.I can then get back to some Winter Squirrel hunting or Predator hunting.

Hi all. Bow season here in WV started 2nd week of October. It will last until December 31st. Best time to hunt with a bow is before gun season, which opens the week of Thanksgiving. Then all the deer are real skittish. I shot a small one for meat, and am looking to get back in the woods soon to fill up my 2nd freezer shelf. Tougher, but more rewarding this time of year.
