I think that is kinda high for a used one as well. Make the guy an offer (~$425), most gun shops price high knowing that people want to haggle - they expect it. If he wants to be a jerk about it, hunt another gun shop. Some gun shop guys have bad attitudes - I don't understand that.

By the way, you will come out way better selling your pistols than trading them - they will always rip you on that. He likely paid whoever traded the XD your looking at ~$350. He is trying to make $150 on the pistol (of course, all speculation on my part!)

If you can find a local FFL to do a reasonably priced transfer, I would suggest looking on Auctionarms.com or Gunbroker.com. Even with shipping and a transfer fee you may come out ahead (don't forget about the dang sales tax on the local purchase).
