| Bullet Maintenance !! ![]() | G3 Clone Hey Guys- I saw a G3/91 clone today made by "Federal Arms" or similar. Does anybody know anything about these? Its a pretty clean rifle with green furniture, Barrel looks fine. It seems lighter than the G3's I carried in Germany and they had collapsible stocks! Can anyone clue me in on these rifles?

| Super Moderator ![]() | I have one and it has served me well. The Federal Arms receiver is cast and milled aluminum, and has a scope rail machined directly into it.

| Bullet Maintenance !! ![]() | BRG- I have gone over it with a fine toothed comb, and can see nothing wrong with her (wish I'd done that with my last wife!) I heard rumors of jambing with the aluminum receivers due to torque. Ever heard of this? Also, is it a faithful repro of the G3/HK91 as far as parts are concerned?

| Swede, I am looking at one also, the shop is asking$500. Don't be overly impressed that it comes with 3 mags, they are some of the cheapest around 5$-$8 for 20rd mags, you can use the G3 ones. I would offer about $500 and see what he say's. oh eck I just talked myself into, guess I'll go down tues and pick it up. Wife's not ganna be happy but then again it's not the first time. ![]()

| Swede, Yes it is a FA 91, but not too sure now, several post say there my be a problem with the aluminium receiver and a loss of accuracy over time.

| Super Moderator ![]() | I'm not sure about the Malaysian ammo, certainly don't use the Indian ammo. Mine gets a constant diet of German and Portugese ammo, but now that it's all gone I think I'll be switching to US commercial ammo. What's hard is finding it loaded to 7.62 NATO specs instead of the hotter 308. What I think I'll do is reload all my 308 to NATO specs and feed it through my G3 when I'm about to retire the brass, since the G3 does a real number on it.

| BRG3, thanks for the info, that also answers another question I had, I had read that .308 NATO and .308 WIN were not the same. So I guess it's not a good idea to fire .308 WIN in my FA91?

So, it's not a good idea, but I've yet to have a problem with shooting steel-cased Wolf .308Win FMJ in my CETME, which is in the same boat as the FA91. The only real problems I've had with ammo was underpowered S. African that wasn't cycling the bolt carrier back far enough. I've also heard the argument that since our G3 clones (or, more properly, CETME clones) were designed to function under sustained fully-automatic fire, it's highly unlikely that using .308Win ammo is going to make it hiccup. So, like you said... not a good idea, but I personally don't think it's that big of an issue; I know some here and on other forums do, though.

| Senior Member | I bought some S african ammo last weekend and I had three jams in my cetme. I didn't know the ammo is under powerd. I thought my gun was starting to screw up, after listening to others talk about their problems with the CETME sporter. Do you guys think the FN Fal is a better platform? Also I tried a B-square mount on my CETME it's a solid mount but it still starts to slip forward after about fifty rounds, do you guys have anythought on fixing this issue that wont hurt the value of my gun? I might be trading it in if it keeps acting up. |

| Picked this up tonight had it on layaway for couple of months, say's FA 91 on mag well but say's centurian 99 on underside of receiver, so I assume it was a left over federal arms when they were bought out by century, which means it was most likly put together by century, but still looks nice, will strip and clean tomorrow and hopefuly get to range ![]() ![]() ![]()
