My thoughts are these:

I would definitely do some market research before selling them publicly, either through an advertisement or to a gun dealer.

I would consider being more generous if it were going to a good home, someone who would keep and cherish it and not just sell it. Best of all would be people who knew your stepson and would be honored to have a part of his collection.

If it were my collection, I'd want to keep them "in the family" as much as possible. Selling a few would be ok if the funds were direly needed, but the best situation would be selling at low prices to people "in the family" who would both cherish the guns and be able to send my loved ones some $$$ for them, even if not a fair market price.

Some look to be worth some money and some look to be general available firearms. Good info given so far on how to go about selling them.
Usually you get more on a face to face sell than trades or selling to a dealer.
Nice bunch of firearms.

To tell you the truth GGG, if I was a wealthier man I would probably want the whole collection lol. A lot of fine guns on that list.

Best you put em all in a nice safe crate and send em all to uncle Ozs retirement home for wayward weapons and ill ............take care of em!!hehehehheheheeeeee . but seriously you are gettin good advise here as usual, follow it and you wont go wrong, there are some unscrupulous people out there who will gladly part you and your enviable collection of weapons.
And welcome to G&G

Hi Toolman.....

My stepson really enjoyed his guns..... he'd just made 34. He worked hard and played just as hard. He never married nor had any children. He had only one sister ( my daughter ) 15 years old. He cherrished her and was very proud of her, and she in return worshiped the ground he walked on.

The day he passed away he was coming to my house to meet his little sisters boyfriend. He planned on giving that boy a good scare.

My daughter is a very bright girl and plans on college in the next couple of years.... her brother would be very proud to know that the money from those guns of which one of them took his life "accidently" will help to fund her college education.

So.... that's the main reason for parting with them, although.... my daughter has mixed feelings about them. I'm in no big rush to sell them, she still has 2 years before she graduates from high school.

In the meantime it would just be nice to know what there worth is so in the near future someone doesn't take advantage of me.

I don't mean to ramble on.

Beth

Thanks Rich

You're truely a nice guy.

Beth

Mooseman, you really know your stuff. Good to see there's still some people out there willing to lend a hand.

GGG, Mooseman is giving you some great info. I hope all goes well in the selling of the guns when the time comes. I use the "Gun Trader's Guide", and the current "Gun Digest". All prices Mooseman has quoted match up to what my books say.

this one has 40 S & W on the firing chamber so I'm assuming it's a 40 Cal?
3... Smith & Wesson
Springfield

Guessing that one is a 45 Cal.
4... Sig Sauer
Exter-NH

another 45 Cal ?
Hey GGG, here's some values I found in my books for your pistols...(more coming)

#1
NIB (New in Box) - $78
EX (Excellent condition) - $59
GD (Good condition) - $44

#2
NIB - $480
EX - $413
GD - $310

#3 There are two versions of this gun. First one is for the version that has the ambidextrous safety and fixed sights.

(Amb. Safety, Fixed Sights)
NIB - $678
EX - $575
GD - $394

(w/o amb. safety, fixed sights)
NIB - $709
EX - $585
GD - $446

#4 - I could not find any info on the Sig Sauer in my books for some reason.

This one is showing at $559 ( In the 2007 Gun Digest)

8... Smith & Wesson
.44 S&W
Special CTG
#6 is a small gun import company, there was no info in the books I have on the value of this gun, but it would be fairly safe to assume it's not much.

#7 - Hard to tell from the pic, but it looks like you have the ambidextrous decocking levers...if so, the value is:
NIB - $475
EX - $398
GD - $243

If it doesn't have the decocking levers:

NIB - $465
EX - $387
GD - $233

#8 - You did not supply a model # for this one, but it looks like the 696. If so, the value is:

NIB - $525
EX - $349
GD - $282

REMEMBER, all of these prices are subject to condition of the gun, and originality of parts!

Beth,
Can you tell who the actual makers of these two pistols are? That would be very helpful. Commemoratives are somewhat difficult to sell. I had to sell two of them for my uncle's estate and it took just the right kind of buyer for them.

So far, I'm finding a bunch of different manufacturers of Jesse James and Wyatt Earp revolvers, all of them non-firing and worth around $90 each.
