CVA Hawken troubleshooting

I recently got my hands on a used 54 cal CVA hawken. normally i dont like to buy used but this was a pretty good deal. anyways, the only thing wrong with it is that it misfires the first time on everyshot. i have already replaced the nipple, and i am certain that the caps are snug before i fire. i have a feeling that the hammer may have been dryfired too many times and a indent formed by the nipple is causing it to not have a full contact, but my assumtion may be wrong, any thoughts? maybe the hammer isnt hitting hard enough?
any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Welcome to G&G...
Does The cap fire and the gun Not, Or does the Cap Not Fire ???
If it is the Cap not firing, It could be a weak Hammer spring, Or you need to have the inside of the Hammer machined Flat (This is Doubtful , as it still should Fire.)
Are you using #10 or # 11 Caps ? Brand ???
The top of the Nipple should be Flat and the cap MUST be Seated. Some New nipples need a little trimming on Diameter due to the cap not being seated to the priming compound and you will misfire.

well I think I fixed it...I took a Dremmel to the inside of the hammer and smoothed it out, and I bought a different brand of Percussion caps, I was useing CCI # 11, i just replaced them with Remington Brand # 11 and i fired 3 caps and they fired consistantly each time. we will see what happens when i take it out to shoot again. if it gives me any more trouble, i will try trimming the nipple, if that doesnt work i may have to take it in to get the spring replaced.
thanks for the tips
