| Registered User | need help pricing a springfield m1a A lady I know is selling her late husbands (long story) guns and she has a springfield m1a that is real nice EXCEPT when the state police took the guns they took off the butt plate which they lost so it will need a new butt plate other wise its a nice rifle. What range price wise should she ask? I know its condition condition condition but it is real clean. |

| Senior Member | There were numerous grades of M1A's from standard to supermatch. Lower serials below 80,000 are often favored over later ones. $1000 is a fair price and it could go as high as $1400 for a standard gun. Higher range would be for pre-ban, more added if match grade.Lower ranges if fiberglass stock, post ban, altered...etc |

| Member | china vs usa well some gun makes hate to under cut and some dont make anything but out source all parts at the lowest cost [crap] and sell high [smoke and mirrors] so if the chicom weapons were not banned many usa makers would have gone out of business so get a ban passed or smear them with lies or both! |

I think it might have something to do with the fact they were her "late" husband's guns...maybe the guns had some relation to his passing... total guess, but that's the only reason I can imagine they would need to take them in the first place. Probably had to take this one into the lab for some sort of analysis...or it could be that one of them just needed a butt plate for their own M1!
