Two guns I was looking at today

Has anyone heard of a Charter 2000 Pathfinder 22 magnum? It's a snubnose. I looked for that name in the manufactors list on here and didnt' see it.

And I looked at a Rossi 38 special.

Any opinions on either of those?

Well a 38 is better than a 22 anyways.

I am here to get opinions, I know that everyone is not going to love the same things but if I know the reasoning behind the opinions I feel it may help me.

You will get some haters but, they are well known for reliability.

I would think that reliability would be one of the major concerns when looking for a gun along with comfort (fit), ease (in using) and carry (capable). Those are some of mine at the moment.

I don't know much about Rossie, but it is pretty hard to mess up a .38 snubbie. I would definitely recommend the .38 over the .22 mag. I have a Taurus .38 snubbie that I really like. I don't think it is much more than the Rossie.

Well the revolver in general is a good choice(Rossi is worth it).

When I was a teenager I subscribed to just about every popular hunting magazine available.
I remember when the Charter Bulldogs and the Pathfinders came out and they were a big success and I never heard anything bad about them.
One reason for this was the price.
Now that we have computers you can search the internet for lots of stuff as we all know.
To my disappointment I've heard that Charters firearms arn't that good. Hummm.
BUT !!!! Some folks shoot there guns very often, more so than I which is once in a great while.
With that said does a gun and manufacture get a bad rap when the gun is shot every weekend or close to that, many times and from it, it begins to give poor service or fails.
I guess they do get a bad rap.
Heres another example a KelTec 32 auto and a Americans arm 22 or 22 mag revolver these are not pistols you plink with or go and shoot all the time.
They were not made for it.
On the other hand the Charter Arms pistols can probably be shot more often, but not all the time like some other brand pistols that cost more.
If I had a need for one I'd buy one because It would only be used as a back up gun hunting or for personal carry and ocasional target shooting.
You get what you pay for with most guns, there are some exceptions.
Guns&Dobes If you like it and it fits you it should give you many years of good service.
If your going to do a whole lot of shooting, then buy something else such as a Smith & Wesson, Colt, Browning, Ruger and CZ. My 2 cents...A.H

Guns&Dobes: do a goggle search on Rossi; Taurus is building them for Rossi. I don't know which. goggle Charter Arms
I know nothing of Rossi or the Charter Arms so any more is a waste
Addition please;
Quite a difference between the .22-.38: obvious the physical impacts and dimensional differences. Your preferences to size, shot placement will determine more. Given most high endorphin rushes will cause accelerated happings .38 will be more forgiving.

Type in on your favorite search engine AIM SURPLUS and check out the VERY Excellent condition CZ 82 semi auto pistols they have I bought one and some other members here did too.
Mine looks new !!! They are so much fun to shoot and thet seem to fit everybodys hand.
Now just because there military surplus doesn't mean there funky or weird in anyway
they truly are in excellent condition and theres all kind of mmo available for them.
I'm pretty sure you would love one of them.
If your interested post a Thread seeking advice or information about them.
You pay an extra 10 bucks and they hand pick you one out.
I use mine for personal carry and there cool looking too. Check'em out...A.H

P.S. These are not old weapons they were manufatured in the late 1980's and if you don't like the one you get they'll replace it...A.H

P.S.S. The most popular one to buy is the 9X18mm the 380 is not in excellent condition...A.H

I am not familiar with either weapon specifically. To my knowledge, a Rossi is the same as a Taurus, a 38 special is a pretty good hitting round. Expect to pay about 25 cents a round for them. The 22 mag is a pretty high powered round too. Charter is not well respected however. 22 mag costs about 20 cents a round to shoot.

I think either would make a good first weapon although I think a regular 22 lr revolver would be a better first gun, cost is 2-3 cents a round to shoot.

Statistics show that there are more people killed with 22lr than with any other round. Of course figures never lie and lairs never figure. If I were to have but one one gun I would get a 22lr revolver, of course I have one, [a Ruger 22 convertible that shoots both a 22lr and 22mag.]

If it were a choice between the two I would prefer the one that felt more comfortable in my hand and the one that had the better, smoother trigger. Either will stop the varmint or Ex.

The Rossi line of guns have been around for a very long time. Obviously, they have stood up to the test of the free market. As they are not high profit for dealers, they sometimes get bashed in the gun store for the wrong reason.
