The 280. Rem is hands down better than the 270. It shoots flatter farther and with more foot pounds of energy. I have seen it take down many moose, elk, and deer. All with one shot. These shots where anywhere from 75 to about 200 yards but i would not be afraid to shoot it at well over 300. IF you look at the fedral site they have the balistics for all their rounds and you can compare them with other rounds. This is very useful and you can find that the 280. will actually match teh 7mm with energy at long ranges. Plus this round kicks much less that the 7mm mag.
